Final Fantasy Retrospective Part 2: Final Fantasy II game

The success of Final Fantasy I for the NES in Japan Square was saved from ruin. Not much later, plans were made for a follow-up to the successful first volume. Because it was never intended to make a sequel was blank started this project. The only thing it would do with the first part was the common name. The game was exactly one year later for the NES released in Japan in December 1988. Despite the success of the first part, which only would come to North America in 1990 and until 2003 in Europe, the game was not shipped to North America. Like Europe, North America had to wait until 2003 before they were underway with the second part of the series. Not that she knew this because the fourth installment was released under the name Final Fantasy II in North America. Through this strange concept they only knew the release of Final Fantasy VII how it really enough. Europe became the sixth part completely ignored and could only enjoy from Final Fantasy VII Final Fantasy. Luckily all the parts for both continents have been released to include the PlayStation, PlayStation Portable, and iOS.

During the development of the first part, we talked about a possible sequel to the first part. At the time this proved to be successful, there are approximately 400,000 copies were sold, the plans for a second part reality. With a larger team Hironobu Sakaguchi began, this time as a director on this project. The team made the choice to completely start over and just like the first part of creating. Gameplay around the story The plot was written by Sakaguchi, but the actual scenario again by Kenji Terada. Nobuo Uematsu again wrote the music for this part, Yoshitaka Amano returned as a concept artist and Nasir Gebelli was again the programmer. As a result, the core of the first part, remained largely intact. Despite the fact that the successor knew totally new characters, storylines and worlds, the music has been largely kept the same. This was in addition to the gameplay, the atmosphere of the game is also typical Final Fantasy.

The gameplay of the first part was largely taken from Final Fantasy II. There was still used a turned-based battle system with your characters on the right and the opponents on the left. The folder still consisted largely of an overworld. What time to visit it is a different world in which the player could towns, dungeons, castles, and so on. This was also the first Final Fantasy Chocobo who's had and you could find special Chocobo forests. This could be used to travel faster through the world and gain. No random battles The main difference with the previous part was the way your team levelde. You could not leveling using XP, but on the basis of points you were awarded for certain actions and weapons. For example, when you use a lot of magic, your magic points raised and the power of your spell. And if you often use a sword, both your sword-points if you attack points went up. This made each character on your team a special and it was your choice which you trained your team the most. Despite the innovative idea to level up in this way, it was not received with open arms. The following sections would again choose the level system of the first part.

The story of Final Fantasy II was much more extensive and this time it was not up to you to determine who was on your team. Your team consisted of Firion, Maria and Guy. So each team had its own name. Also, there were no more classes where you could choose from, but you had your own team training in the skills that you believe was the most important. The story begins with the three heroes who along with their friend Leon flights for the soldiers of the Emperor. When they were left for dead, they were captured by Princess Hilda. She belonged to an underground organization that had turned. Against the Emperor Along with Hilda and her rebel group trying to go, and then Leon to find it again. Against Firion, Maria and Guy Emperor As a result, you always played with these three characters and the story came a fourth alternate characters accompany you on your adventures. For example, by Leila pirate and Joseph, a native of Salamand. This game felt much more like an adventure. Another addition to the story was memorizing key words. Through the story you could go several words shown remembered and used in conversations. When you say a word against an NPC, you came on with the story. This allows the player became more involved in the story than before.

The success of the first part has not been totally equals with the second part. Certainly the re-release of the Game Boy Advance and PlayStation Portable with the first part, called Dawn of Souls got the worst reviews for a Final Fantasy game. In Japan, however, the game was still sold well and was raised enough money to begin a third. Because the game was only available from 2003 in North America and Europe, was at that time only looked at the sales in Japan. Now we know that the time to sell the lowest were found for Final Fantasy in Europe and North America, from the official series. On multiple lists of Final Fantasy games, this game is also to be found in one of the lowest places. Despite Final Fantasy II was always praised for the many changes. It is one of the few games in the franchise that tried to look ahead and apply innovations in different areas of the game. Final Fantasy III, however, was chosen to resort to the gameplay and the level system of the first part back. This would be a slightly longer development period and released only in Japan in March 1990. To play this game, they were in North America to wait until 2006 and in Europe until 2007.
